It hasn’t really hit me yet. A marathon has always been on my bucket list, I just didn’t really think I’d be checking it off as soon as tomorrow morning. Okay breathing.
10.5 min miles exactly. Bam. Granted I couldn’t walk too well when I finished, but at least I did the 16! Also in class today, Dawoud Bey said he was thinking about my photos this week. !!!!! Dawoud Bey, guys. If you don’t know him, look him up. He’s my senior thesis teacher and he is by far one of the best teachers I’ve had and it’s only the 3rd week. Everything he says is so mind opening and like “Oh why didn’t I think of that before?” But anyway, it was an honor that he said he was thinking of my work this week =]
It’s been awesome so far. Tonight we did 4 miles and Luda and I have about the same pace. But we did 35 mins! Which is about an 8 min 45 sec mile. About 1 min 45 sec faster than my usual mile! =]
11 min/mile. It’s my first 9 miler on asphalt as opposed to trail running, so I’m pretty proud of it =]
And it was hot out! At about the 2.5 mile mark, I saw a pug running toward me. And he just runs right past me like it’s what he was supposed to do. So I stopped my watch and stood there for a second waiting to see if somebody was going to appear around the corner of the trees, but this dog seemed to be alone. I tried to call to him and he did come running at one point, but when I reached out to see his collar, he booked it the opposite direction. Okay, dog. Anyway, it was a tough run because of the heat and shut up I know it’s not even 80 out yet, but there’s absolutely no clouds today. But I feel pretty good right now.
Which works out to about a 10min30sec mile. WHICH IS GOAL RACE PACE DANANANANANANA I FEEL GOOD. Longest run I’ve ever been on. Jammed my ankle at the beginning of the 7th mile, then about 10 seconds later I tripped over a root and fell. Haha. But it was a good run! Got muddy which is nice. Shoes and socks soaked through from that and wet grass. Felt my best probably around the 6 mile mark, when I was taking hills like a mofo. I’m really good at uphill running, especially in races. It’s usually where I pass people. I suck at downhill. It’s where I get passed (go figure). But the hills around the 6 mile mark felt like absolutely nothing. My breathing didn’t change at all when I was at the top of them =] Yay life!
